CAB COOLERWAY???

1st and foremost, let me start by saying I apologize for my absence. 2010 has been one hell of a roller coaster ride full of both highs & lows and a whole lot of speed! lol Anywho, let me get back to our regular scheduled programming and do what it is I came to do- update you......
Since the last time I blogged God has continued to find favor with me and my direction. My team has gotten stronger with the addition of a couple of new people who I'll introduce a little later for shock value & some crazy new opportunities! The album THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE has been wrapped up for a couple of weeks now & I'm going into promo mode at the 1st of the year with the album before the album mixtape also being fully produced by Mike B. Since everyone was asking me what happened to the Swagger Bird movement I decided to give it new life & allow my brain child to see the light through this mixtape. As I'm sure you remember, the Swagger Birds underwent a drastic reinvention & is now the Fly Flock. I am still the general & the crew consists of KING, Big Lunny, Nature Boy Rowe, Pyro Stakkz & a handful of affiliates from Team Blue to New Houston. The name of the mixtape is "The Cab Coolerway Project" and it's being mixed by none other than Go DJ Mankind. It's mostly an inhouse thing with features from The Fly Flock crew & a few affiliates, no one major (not yet anyway). It's a complete 180 from the direction of THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE being that it's just fun music with no definitive barriers- we're just showing off & having a good time in celebration of our recent success.
Oh wait, let me slow down, I forgot I haven't been blogging so you have no idea what "success" I'm speaking of! Well, let me just say that I found exactly what I had been searching for & now all of my com-padres are good. Speaking of good, shoutout to the homey Bernard "Jay" James for the visuals he provided for THE CAB COOLERWAY PROJECT. All b.s. to the side, my dude is a beast on those graphics! Matter fact, while I'm in a shoutout mood I have to send some words towards the homey Statton Gray for the engineering & energy he provided in the studio, he had a lot to do with the direction the sound of the mixtape went in. I will say this, for new PKT fans THE CAB COOLERWAY PROJECT is lyrically nothing like what you've been hearing from me. For old PKT fans, it's like it used to be with stuff like The Freestyle Junkie & The Beastmaster projects. All I can honestly tell you is you are definitely in for a treat! In fact, real soon you'll get to see just how much fun we're having with a youtube posting of the first single entitled the "Calloway Shuffle" where my wife & a few of her friends teach the world the new line dance- BANANAS!! LOL
So, with all that said, I hope I have updated you enough with my vagueness! I really don't want to spoil any surprises so I can't go into too much detail. Just know that at the beginning of the year you will definitely know all that has been going on with Migration Music & Team PKT. Much love to the people who jumped ship too early, I hope the waters lead you to a safe dock & a land as beautiful as the one this ship has arrived at. To T. Flowers, Cool Rob, Nikki the Promo Princess, Todd Moscowitz, X Allah & all of my GO DJs ESPECIALLY Go DJ Mankind I salute & appreciate you! I know I aint the easiest dude to work with because my vision can sometimes seem a little far fetched but at the end of the day I'm glad y'all stayed to realize there will be a tomorrow. To all my fans, I appreciate the continued love & support and I promise that I will not let you down! Music is life & life is a song, I'm gonna dance all the way to the grave! Love & respect from me, PKT aka Cab Coolerway aka Mr. Hi-De-Hide-Ya-Hoe!

NEVER FORGET

On behalf of myself & the entire Team PKT staff, I'd like to thank all of our fans and supporters for the continued love and motivation you provide. Because of y'all we consistently continue to break new grounds in every aspect of my career from the business to the craft. Every now & then I reflect back on just how far I've come and have to pay respects to certain people who I realize I've never taken the time to personally say thank you to, now is one of those times.....
In 2006, I accomplished a feat that was ahead of its time for my city so I didn't really have the opportunity to make the accomplishment pay dividends then. 4 years later, getting a glimmer of that same spotlight I had is something to rave about. In case you have no idea what I am talking about, I'm speaking on making it onto the AllHipHop.Com site. I did just that in 2006 thanks to three very important individuals- T. Piper, Kevin Clark & Steve Raze. Because of the very special write-up within the sites Breeding Ground section, my local craft generated a nationwide viewing that launched my career into full gear. Almost 4 and a half years later , I am still getting major support from the web site's owner Steve Raze who continues to post my music for everyone to hear. Just recently, he crowned my song "THIS DREAM" featuring Dave Sha as the site's Heater of the Day, an honor all artists wish for. So to Kevin Clark, T. Piper and especially the homey Steve Raze, I'd like to say thank you for everything!
One of the reasons I was even able to get that plug to AllHipHop.Com was due to my music being played and heard on a station that was also broadcast worldwide via the internet, 90.1 KPFT. So without a doubt I have to thank 2 major individuals, Matt Sonzala & DJ Bobby Phats. Phats, who now hosts the station's show "The Groove," continues to play my music and support my career. He has given me numerous occasions to utilize his platform to reach the masses and for that I am eternally grateful! Hell, he had even been spinning an exclusive off of the upcoming album THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE for weeks before I even knew anyone had it! Now my dude Matt is no longer in Houston, but he continues to do the same thing he did for me here for the lucky artists who now have him in Austin. Besides the radio, Matt spotlighted me on his blogs, in his magazine articles & most importantly on an oh so coveted bill at the SXSW showcase! When it comes to the Texas music scene, Matt Sonzala is credited with being a major gate keeper to its success so just being able to say that he has personally helped me out is a distinct honor! Oh yeah, I also have to credit him for linking me with one of my Houston emcee idols Devin The Dude- Matt booked me to open for Devin & personally introduced us...heavy! Oh yeah Matt, Houston needs Pushermania back!!!!
So I guess I'll end this little blog by saying I hope I have a future filled with more write-ups like this one. Even more so, I hope that I can affect someone else's career in the same positive fashion as these people and so many others have affected mine. Believe it or not, success can never be attained on one's own merit, someone somewhere has to help you out with something. Whatever you do, just never forget to say thank you......

SOUTHSIDE LEGEND!!!!

In the words of my big homey Paul Wall, "I got the internet goin' nuts!!" It's official, SOUTHSIDE LEGEND featuring my "playa potna" Mr. 713 aka Lil Keke aka Don Ke aka THE Southside Legend is taking the city by storm! After being leaked for only 24hrs, this song has managed to make over 10 major mixtapes, numerous blog sites, countless forum threads & most importantly internet radio! Thanks to the individual efforts of my entire team, once again I have broken new ground. THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE album keeps gaining higher anticipations with every new day I see partly due to the quality of work that my team is putting in. The new website is under construction, the album is almost complete & he deal is being negotiated! Shoutout to the homey X Allah at Fontana Distribution/Universal Records for bringing me to the table & to T. Flowers for working hard to get me to X! lol I'd also like to take his time to show some love & respect to Lil Keke for being 100 & taking me up under his wing. I appreciate the fact that I'm surrounded by people who appreciate my dedication & support my craft as well as my vision.
Speaking of vision, props to the homey Tosin of TheScrewShop.Com for the throwed graphic work on the single! If you are a lover of everything Dirty South especially screw music then you definitely need to hit up the website & become a member- it goes down in these forums!!! Oh yeah, gotta thank the homey Mike Mo of M.A.D. Studioz for mixing & mastering the song to perfection.
And to everybody who wants a copy of this song, join my fan club at REVERBNATION and receive the free fan exclusive download! Oh yeah, last thing......can you say "remix coming soon????" I hate to ruin the entire surprise but let's just say Twista, Big Pokey, Z-Ro and more!!! POW!!!!! (Go DJ J Boss voice)

Have You Had Your Awakening Yet???

Every now and then in life, we are blessed with the privileged honor of meeting people who inspire us. Luckily for me, I can say that during my musical journey I have encountered this rare phenomenon twice in the form of two very talented artists- Tha Centop & David Sha.
Now in order for you to understand the importance of my words, you first have to understand the importance of the word "talent." I have realized over the years that everyone possesses a talent, but what separates the gifted from the talented is an awakening of one's purpose in life. A talent is easily recognizable and considerably easy to put to use but a gift is something that's often locked away within your talent that can't be accessed until you have learned how to use your talent to benefit others, not just yourself. Contained within each of our talents is a limitless potential that will allow us to ascend to a cerebral place of personal harmony once we have awakened to the fact that our talent makes us part of something that's bigger than ourselves- and that's what unlocks our gifts. Now with all of that said, let me get back to my original thoughts...
My homey Tha Centop, who I just refer to as Top, is an amazing artist whose talent to convey thoughts through rhyme is a gift within itself. It wasn't until I was able to converse with him on an intellectual level that I learned how much more sophisticated his thoughts were in comparison to his rhymes- and if you haven't heard his lyrics then you can't truly appreciate that statement. I can honestly say that talking with Top was the 1st time I experienced the feeling of having a discussion with myself, and I have conversed with multitudes of people. This brother has a vision that has allowed him to put himself & his talent in the background in an effort to better the entire landscape of the same city that has tried to oppress him- if that's not a gift then I don't know what is. Never one to be concerned with personal accomplishments or accolades, I have witnessed Tha Centop use every platform he's been provided with to reflect the light off of him & onto those around him. As much of an underrated artist that he is, he's chosen to spread the word about other artists he feels are as underrated as himself- case in point myself, Kritikal and Rock Show who together with Top comprise The 4 Horsemen. This group, the NHO movement & a number of other artists are an extension of Tha Centop's vision and we're all very appreciative of his gift.
Speaking of gifts, until you hear David Sha in action you cannot appreciate the word anointed. God has truly blessed him with an unbelievable talent to not only be a great lyricist but also an amazing singer. I can say without hesitation that mister "Dibidi" is definitely the beast of both worlds- that's right I said beast, not best, it wasn't a typo! Even though I personally feel that he may be musically unmatched, his vision in my opinion is what places him in a lane that no one else can drive in. For instance, I have been bestowed with the distinctive honor of being a part of his project entitled "4 The Sistas." When I heard the title I just figured it was about the music because that's what talented artists are focused on, I was as far off with that thought as I was right on with it. The title wasn't about just the focus of the music, it was about the power of the music as well. He told me that the songs had to be uplifting because he was tired of artists using this platform to demean the most important gender on the planet & even more importantly all the proceeds would be going directly to breast cancer research- respect. Without shilly-shallying I told him I was on board! Sha's words in his music are all you need to hear to know that he has already realized his purpose, now the work is in just helping others to find theirs.
I'm not really sure what the purpose of this blog was other than inspiring others to inspire others. I myself hope that someone somewhere feels the same about their encounter with me as I feel about my encounters with Tha Centop & David Sha. Entertainment is so much more than just entertaining, it's about capturing & stimulating the hearts of those whose attention you have. We all have talents but until we figure out that we are part of something bigger than we could ever be we won't unlock the limitless potential contained within our talent. So if you want to transform from simply talented to gifted, ask yourself this- "Have I had my awakening yet?"

I'm Back!

As you all can see, it's been a minute since my last blog & for that I apologize but I promise it has been for good reasons. If you haven't learned by experience yet I'm sure you've heard that life has a way of throwing curve balls at you that may seem impossible to hit, but if you just keep swinging eventually you'll make contact & may even knock it out of the park. I recently experienced such pitches & just when I was one strike away from my final out contact was made.....
At this juncture of my career, people everywhere are anticipating the completion of my album THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE with an unexpected amount of enthusiasm. The sad part, is it's not just fans but also a handful of freeloaders, plotters & genuinely envious people who are sometimes disguised so well they infiltrate your team & pass as family. Luckily, I can say that after a few minor setbacks & a whole lot of deuce chunking it's back to business.....and the business is good!
For starters, the album is nearing completion. Secondly, the big homey Lil Keke has so graciously taken me under his wing so to speak and we have some big things popping including a full mixtape & a new hit single dropping soon entitled "Southside Legend" featuring the homey Z Ro.
Lastly, this was just a post to update everybody & let y'all know it's going down! Follow me on twitter @misterpkt & look me up on facebook under TeRay Green, the REAL Migration Music is back in full effect!

ALL I CAN SAY IS....WOW!

I don't know what it is about the entertainment industry that makes people feel like performers aren't regular people but whatever it is I damn sure don't want any! lol Even though I'm working on a very highly anticipated album right now, it never occurred to me that I was approaching "celebrity" status. Anyone who knows me knows that I have always been a laid back down to earth kinda guy, fame is not something I embrace at all. With all of the internet press and buzz surrounding the project it's getting really weird to have conversations with people who have been knowing me & are starting to treat me different. For the record, if we know each other personally, PLEASE don't call me PKT- address me by my real name! I promise you that I am still the same guy I was 3 years ago with the exception of a few material things that in no shape form or fashion define me. Come on people, stop putting me on a pedestal & creating a separation that doesn't exist- it's really awkward. Music is nothing more than my job so praise isn't necessary but appreciation is definitely appreciated! All I want to do is make good music & kick it with y'all like I always have. If you see me somewhere it's cool to holla at me, I chop it up with everybody! With that said, thanks for all the continued love & support and THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE is coming soon! Join TeamPKT on ReverbNation and add me on FACEBOOK and TWITTER! It's go time, LET'S GET IT!!!

THE MAKINGS OF A CLASSIC

Everyone knows how extensive my history is within my city & everyone is learning how much I have sacrificed to get to the point where I am. What people don't know is exactly how classic the album is actually becoming. When I started the recording process I admit that I had a vision but I never in my wildest dreams envisioned it would be like this! With everything that I have accomplished thus far in my career I have never stopped being a fan of music so to be able to say as an artist I am collaborating with my icons on MY personal project is sort of surreal. The most amazing part isn't the fact that we're getting songs done, its that they are doing it out of respect for me as an artist & that is something I'm still trying to learn how to swallow. This picture you see of 8Ball & MJG is a scan of the original picture I have in possession that was actually taken in Houston & used to create the photo-shopped album cover to "COMING OUT HARD," thats how much of a fan I am! (And this little piece of history is also what solidified this feature & a real relationship) I know plenty of stars so I have never been "starstruck," but I have become struck by the fact that stars are starting to know me! Having personal numbers in your phone to your own idols is something I think you can never get used to.
Enough with my mentals, let's get to this music! The big homies 8Ball & MJG have blessed THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE on the heartfelt joint "What Goes Up" which is a remake of the classic done by Frankie Beverly & Maze. We were accompanied by the vocal stylings of my good friend Adrian B. (formerly known as Gemini) who is actually featured on the album twice. Personally, "What Goes Up" is my favorite song on the project because it is definitely the most honest. The song & the concept sheds light on the truth behind the fame associated with the entertainment industry from the relationship side of things. Most times people forget that stars are people & often times we aren't allowed to have emotions- this song speaks for that. My career has definitely been a roller-coaster ride to success and this song allowed me to address the many feelings I've had over the years & direct certain emotions towards certain people & situations personally.
Features aside, THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE is said to have all the makings of a classic- good concepts, great production & honest words. I don't know if there are high expectations for the project or not but I can say without hesitation that I did my thing. For the first time in my career I entered the booth without feeling like I had anything to prove & I think the end result shows the fun I had creating freely again. With that said, for all the people who have been keeping up with my career I can tell you it's not going to be the verbal onslaught you've come to know me for for. Lyrically bar for bar this is probably the weakest performance of my life but song for song it's the best. I think the best way I can explain it is to say on my older stuff it was artist friendly- I was a rapper's rapper. THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE is more people friendly, straight forward & direct with nothing wittingly going over the average person's head. I guess the funny part is by not trying to prove that I am one of the best I have successfully shown that I am one of the best s far as Texas is concerned. I am proud of this project & I am grateful to my team. When it's all said & done, I give the glory to God & present the music to you without a worry. There is no critic or skeptic that can belittle this masterful piece of work because this work is me & I'm more comfortable with me than ever before. So does THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE really have the makings of classic....you'll just have to wait & be the judge of that yourself.

I JUST NEED TO STOP

Ok, I know at some point I'm going to have to just officially bring THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE to a close but it's just too hard! Everyday we hit the lab I leave with another hit. Right now, it's not even a talent thing- it's just a zone thing. I feel like Jordan that day everything he shot was going in, all I can do is look at my hand & shrug my shoulders! lol
Last night, the homey David Sha came through to bless the project & the end result was a banger entitled "THIS DREAM." And if you think I'm just being biased towards my own work ask Mike B., he said this is not only his favorite song on the album so far but hands down his favorite song of the last 2 years! Sadly, I think I agree with him about it being my favorite song on the album so far. "THIS DREAM" is grown folks music with a feel good vibe- it reminds me of old school 2PAC songs that you could visualize him smiling while he was rapping on. Now don't get it confused, I am by no means comparing myself to the greatness that is PAC but good music is just good music, period. With that said, let me thank those who recognize that fact & have taken an active role in the progression of my career.
1st & foremost I have to thank my kinfolk and CEO Terry "Sir T" Davis for believing in my talent, seeing my vision & pushing me forward while keeping me grounded. If it wasn't for you cousin I never would've hooked up with the greatest producer in the world, the infamous Mike B.! I can't thank you enough B for this masterful piece of work that you've helped me create. If there is a better artist/producer duo in Houston than us then hell is frozen & heaven is full! lol I also have to thank Willie "Cool Rob" Roberson who has turned out to be the realest dude I've met in the last 10 years! You already know what it is Cool, you are officially family to me- forget this music stuff! And now on to the people who turned my team into a powerhouse- T. Flowers, Derrick McKinney. TEAM PKT IS A BEAST...that is all.

ANOTHER TEXAS RENAISSANCE ADDITION!!

Man, this project just keeps getting better and better by the minute! With the addition of my homey & the artist whom I consider to be the best in Houston hands down, I can humbly say without bias that THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE will be a classic album, period. K-Rino is undoubtedly the most prolific hip hop pioneer our city can lay claims to & I am proud to say that for the second time he has blessed my work with his talent. After the response I received for our collaboration "Robert Davis" off of my project LAST MAN STANDING, it only made sense to reach out to the big homey again to help make the current album a little better than it already was. And being that I considered this project to be a resurrection of sorts for the sound I consider to be true Houston, I couldn't possibly complete my vision without the likes of the original underground king of Texas.
For those of you who are not familiar with the legend known as K-Rino, he is the founder and mastermind behind Houston's iconic group The South Park Coalition. With over 14 albums under his belt & never being signed to a major record label, you have to understand the respect his business alone commands. Add the fact that I can tell you that he personally introduced me to the overseas grind, you can understand why I have such admiration for him. Oh yeah, let's not forget, HE IS DOPE! And if you don't believe me ask Scarface, who said- and I quote- "K Rino is the best rapper in Houston. Yeah, I give it to K Rino."
With all of that said, shout out to my homey and business mentor K-Rino for blessing THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE with not only his talent, but his cosign. I'm closer than I've ever been to achieving my personal goals & I credit my team, my fans & my supporters for my success! Y'all just stay tuned, I promise THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE will be 1 of the greatest albums to come out of Houston to date- and I say that humbly.

Taking It Back 2 The Streets

It is official! This weekend I hooked up with the homey J-Dawg of the infamous Boss Hogg Outlawz & we made history! Thanks to my platinum producing buddy Mike B. the homey & I created a smash street anthem entitled "In The Hood". Besides being a very talented artist & all around down to earth type of dude, I can honestly say without hesitation that J-Dawg is undoubtedly one of- if not the- realest brothers on the scene here in Houston (besides myself of course!). It's been a similar road to the top for us both so this song was definitely a must do! And even though our styles are nowhere near similar, the finished track was like a match made in Heaven.
Real talk, if you are a fan of mine then you know that I pride myself on being a very versatile artist whose main focus is on the lyricism of my craft. I do my best to convey my thoughts with metaphors & similes that will keep you thinking & appreciating the language arts. With that said, it's just something about the pain behind the straight forwardness J-Dawg brings that allows me to admit that I totally understand why he is one of the hottest cats in the streets right now. He was so humble & quiet in the studio but when he walked into the booth & removed his shirt it was like he totally transformed & the song did the same right along with him. I am proud to be able to say that I have worked with the people whom I personally respect on this project because at the end of the day the music speaks volumes. We'll be shooting the video real soon (probably in about 2 weeks) so I will keep you all abreast of that because we're definitely going to bring the hood out! In the meantime, download my homey's mixtape "Behind Tint Volume 2" below & check out the sneak leak of the song pre-mix. Also hit up the youtube, the homey Fetti from RISE DVD should be putting up footage from the session soon! Shoutout to my whole Migration Music & Team PKT family- Sir T, Cool Rob, Hitman Hoffa, KING, T. Rose, Mike B. & anyone else who continues to show love & support to my movement. The Texas Renaissance is coming soon.....

Question...

Why is it that people always want to take credit for other people's work? And why is it that every time someone says they don't need anyone else they get upset when people leave them alone? Is it just me, or do the dumbest people in the world all believe they should be leaders??? lol...enough with the questions!
I just want to thank you all for the continued support & give you a brief update! My upcoming album "THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE" is being recorded & contains features from Bun B., Devin The Dude, Paul Wall, Lil Keke, Layzie Bone & 8Ball. My song with Lil Keke is presently on AllHipHop.Com & it's entitled SHE LIKES IT. I wouldn't be as far as I am or have this amazing music if it weren't for my team so shoutout to Terry"Sir T" Davis, Keith "Keyman" Tillis & Michael "Mike B." Banks for helping bring my vision to fruition. My website is currently in the works & my artist KING will be dropping his mixtape very soon! Let's Go!!

So, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning & now the world of entertainment has to pay for it! For some reason, the fact that artists & key players in my city have been mistaking my humbleness for weakness just pissed me off today even though I've been knowing it & it never really mattered. With that said, let me explain a few things to yall as I get my vent on....
1st and foremost, I am one of the very few artists in Houston who has continuously paid homage to ALL my predecessors- including the dudes in my own draft class who I know aren't better than me but went on to have a little success. It's just amazing to me that these same people would rather pretend like they dont know me instead of getting up with me when in all actuality I do larger things than them as an unsigned artist then they do as major label artists! 2ndly, at the end of the day, these dudes were lucky- I have more talent in one eyelash than they have in their whole bodies! I'm frustrated right now by the fact that I have to take my respect when I've done everything necessary to simply earn it. The sad part is I know that as soon as I start lashing out then all of a sudden everyone is going to want to say I'm tripping and what not- should've thought about that when you were playing me for weak!
Honestly, check my resume! I don't boast and I don't brag but the truth of the matter is I have maneuvered my way through this industry on respect while the rest of these guys got by on a dollar! I continue to build relationships & they continue to buy friendships! I'm paving the way & they're paying their way! Well, be that as it may, no more Mister Nice Guy! I have no problem saying that I am the best artist in my city & I have no problem proving it. If anybody has a problem with my words then do whatever you deem necessary to prove me wrong- let's go!
