ALL I CAN SAY IS....WOW!
I don't know what it is about the entertainment industry that makes people feel like performers aren't regular people but whatever it is I damn sure don't want any! lol Even though I'm working on a very highly anticipated album right now, it never occurred to me that I was approaching "celebrity" status. Anyone who knows me knows that I have always been a laid back down to earth kinda guy, fame is not something I embrace at all. With all of the internet press and buzz surrounding the project it's getting really weird to have conversations with people who have been knowing me & are starting to treat me different. For the record, if we know each other personally, PLEASE don't call me PKT- address me by my real name! I promise you that I am still the same guy I was 3 years ago with the exception of a few material things that in no shape form or fashion define me. Come on people, stop putting me on a pedestal & creating a separation that doesn't exist- it's really awkward. Music is nothing more than my job so praise isn't necessary but appreciation is definitely appreciated! All I want to do is make good music & kick it with y'all like I always have. If you see me somewhere it's cool to holla at me, I chop it up with everybody! With that said, thanks for all the continued love & support and THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE is coming soon! Join TeamPKT on ReverbNation and add me on FACEBOOK and TWITTER! It's go time, LET'S GET IT!!!

THE MAKINGS OF A CLASSIC
Everyone knows how extensive my history is within my city & everyone is learning how much I have sacrificed to get to the point where I am. What people don't know is exactly how classic the album is actually becoming. When I started the recording process I admit that I had a vision but I never in my wildest dreams envisioned it would be like this! With everything that I have accomplished thus far in my career I have never stopped being a fan of music so to be able to say as an artist I am collaborating with my icons on MY personal project is sort of surreal. The most amazing part isn't the fact that we're getting songs done, its that they are doing it out of respect for me as an artist & that is something I'm still trying to learn how to swallow. This picture you see of 8Ball & MJG is a scan of the original picture I have in possession that was actually taken in Houston & used to create the photo-shopped album cover to "COMING OUT HARD," thats how much of a fan I am! (And this little piece of history is also what solidified this feature & a real relationship) I know plenty of stars so I have never been "starstruck," but I have become struck by the fact that stars are starting to know me! Having personal numbers in your phone to your own idols is something I think you can never get used to.
Enough with my mentals, let's get to this music! The big homies 8Ball & MJG have blessed THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE on the heartfelt joint "What Goes Up" which is a remake of the classic done by Frankie Beverly & Maze. We were accompanied by the vocal stylings of my good friend Adrian B. (formerly known as Gemini) who is actually featured on the album twice. Personally, "What Goes Up" is my favorite song on the project because it is definitely the most honest. The song & the concept sheds light on the truth behind the fame associated with the entertainment industry from the relationship side of things. Most times people forget that stars are people & often times we aren't allowed to have emotions- this song speaks for that. My career has definitely been a roller-coaster ride to success and this song allowed me to address the many feelings I've had over the years & direct certain emotions towards certain people & situations personally.
Features aside, THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE is said to have all the makings of a classic- good concepts, great production & honest words. I don't know if there are high expectations for the project or not but I can say without hesitation that I did my thing. For the first time in my career I entered the booth without feeling like I had anything to prove & I think the end result shows the fun I had creating freely again. With that said, for all the people who have been keeping up with my career I can tell you it's not going to be the verbal onslaught you've come to know me for for. Lyrically bar for bar this is probably the weakest performance of my life but song for song it's the best. I think the best way I can explain it is to say on my older stuff it was artist friendly- I was a rapper's rapper. THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE is more people friendly, straight forward & direct with nothing wittingly going over the average person's head. I guess the funny part is by not trying to prove that I am one of the best I have successfully shown that I am one of the best s far as Texas is concerned. I am proud of this project & I am grateful to my team. When it's all said & done, I give the glory to God & present the music to you without a worry. There is no critic or skeptic that can belittle this masterful piece of work because this work is me & I'm more comfortable with me than ever before. So does THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE really have the makings of classic....you'll just have to wait & be the judge of that yourself.

I JUST NEED TO STOP
Ok, I know at some point I'm going to have to just officially bring THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE to a close but it's just too hard! Everyday we hit the lab I leave with another hit. Right now, it's not even a talent thing- it's just a zone thing. I feel like Jordan that day everything he shot was going in, all I can do is look at my hand & shrug my shoulders! lol
Last night, the homey David Sha came through to bless the project & the end result was a banger entitled "THIS DREAM." And if you think I'm just being biased towards my own work ask Mike B., he said this is not only his favorite song on the album so far but hands down his favorite song of the last 2 years! Sadly, I think I agree with him about it being my favorite song on the album so far. "THIS DREAM" is grown folks music with a feel good vibe- it reminds me of old school 2PAC songs that you could visualize him smiling while he was rapping on. Now don't get it confused, I am by no means comparing myself to the greatness that is PAC but good music is just good music, period. With that said, let me thank those who recognize that fact & have taken an active role in the progression of my career.
1st & foremost I have to thank my kinfolk and CEO Terry "Sir T" Davis for believing in my talent, seeing my vision & pushing me forward while keeping me grounded. If it wasn't for you cousin I never would've hooked up with the greatest producer in the world, the infamous Mike B.! I can't thank you enough B for this masterful piece of work that you've helped me create. If there is a better artist/producer duo in Houston than us then hell is frozen & heaven is full! lol I also have to thank Willie "Cool Rob" Roberson who has turned out to be the realest dude I've met in the last 10 years! You already know what it is Cool, you are officially family to me- forget this music stuff! And now on to the people who turned my team into a powerhouse- T. Flowers, Derrick McKinney. TEAM PKT IS A BEAST...that is all.

ANOTHER TEXAS RENAISSANCE ADDITION!!
Man, this project just keeps getting better and better by the minute! With the addition of my homey & the artist whom I consider to be the best in Houston hands down, I can humbly say without bias that THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE will be a classic album, period. K-Rino is undoubtedly the most prolific hip hop pioneer our city can lay claims to & I am proud to say that for the second time he has blessed my work with his talent. After the response I received for our collaboration "Robert Davis" off of my project LAST MAN STANDING, it only made sense to reach out to the big homey again to help make the current album a little better than it already was. And being that I considered this project to be a resurrection of sorts for the sound I consider to be true Houston, I couldn't possibly complete my vision without the likes of the original underground king of Texas.
For those of you who are not familiar with the legend known as K-Rino, he is the founder and mastermind behind Houston's iconic group The South Park Coalition. With over 14 albums under his belt & never being signed to a major record label, you have to understand the respect his business alone commands. Add the fact that I can tell you that he personally introduced me to the overseas grind, you can understand why I have such admiration for him. Oh yeah, let's not forget, HE IS DOPE! And if you don't believe me ask Scarface, who said- and I quote- "K Rino is the best rapper in Houston. Yeah, I give it to K Rino."
With all of that said, shout out to my homey and business mentor K-Rino for blessing THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE with not only his talent, but his cosign. I'm closer than I've ever been to achieving my personal goals & I credit my team, my fans & my supporters for my success! Y'all just stay tuned, I promise THE TEXAS RENAISSANCE will be 1 of the greatest albums to come out of Houston to date- and I say that humbly.
